Mug Shot

I have been out of mugs and finally have a few for Artstock this weekend. They turned out beautiful. Nice glaze melt.

I discovered a relay needs replacing on my kiln so the top shelf of this firing did not reach temp. I am firing another short load regardless as I need more pots for the weekend and I won't receive another relay until next week.

Local Press

Nice to get some local press. Our online update did a nice feature on me. Thanks Ian and Peggy Sue.

Putting My Ducks In A Row

I have been really having fun these with these altered pitchers. They reminded me of little ducks waddling across the board. I am in a real productive cycle, making work for Artstock and beyond to the holidays. It is always invigorating to have a lot of forms in the works, in different stages.

San Juan Island Farmers Market

I will be at the San Juan Island Farmers Market this weekend Sept 18, 10-1. There will be Fair Cups that I made for the San Juan County Fair and a few odds and ends. I am busy getting ready for Artstock 2010 here on San Juan Island, October 2 & 3. Click Here to visit the website and find out more info.
Quiet days now that school has begun and the boys and I adjust to our new routine. Time to catch up and restock the showroom as well as make new work for the holidays.

Best of Show

I was surprised and honored. My plate won Best of Show.

“From Mud to Magic” 2010 is a countywide non-profit juried ceramic art show sponsored by the We Can Make A Difference Foundation. Juried by Fred Olsen, an internationally known ceramic artist and author of “The Kiln Book”.   “Considered works should encompass traditional craftsmanship with innovative design providing strength to its overall from, function and/or merit.”  Pottery Northwest of Seattle  accepted an invitation to join the show, adding a professional and regional component to the show.

From Mud to Magic

I have three pieces in Mud to Magic this year. The show opens this Sunday, August 8th at the San Juan Community Theater, reception at 5:30. Come on by and check it out if you are on San Juan Island.

Fred Olsen will give a talk at 2:30      "How to Earn a Living While Still Being True to One's Art".

Perfect timing for me as I have been thinking about that lately, that it is difficult to find a balance or to find time to work on those creative ideas.
